Questions:

1.    If you were asked to program this example would you do it? Why?

-       If I would know that the true process of the system is to take advantage of other people, I wouldn’t do it at all. It is because as a personal experience, I don’t want to take advantage to others. On the other hand, if the intentions of the system are clean and clear, I would do it gladly.

2.    Is it right to program this example? Why?

-       After reading the information I obtained in the “Coding Horror”, I think it is not right at all. It is because making programs such as this example to take advantage to other people is downright wrong.

Integrative Questions:

1.    What is swoopo.com?

-       It is the self implied next generation of online auctions. They are the creators of “Entertainment shopping” which is the combination of e-shopping and entertainment.

2.    What does swoopo.com contribute to the people in the internet world?

-       They are offering people who cannot purchase items on retail stores due to its price and their financial status or difficulties. The bidding or auctioning of items is a way for some people to get items less priced compared to others. It also gives convenience to other people by means of giving them the ability to go shopping in the security of their home.

3.    What do people do to extend the time of the bidding process of the system in swoopo.com?

-       People are clicking the “bid” button to add $0.75 to the bid of the item which adds a specific amount of time for others to have a chance to get the item. More clicks in the “bid” button is equal to more income for the company or business.

4.    How much time is given to them when they bid for the item?

-       Whenever a person bids on an item, 15 seconds are added to the overall time of the bid.

5.    What are the items being sold in swoopo.com?

-       There is a large array of items swoopo.com is offering to the people. It ranges from technical gadgets to fanciful jewelries but majority of the items are electronic.

6.    Who is Jeff Atwood?

-       Jeff Atwood was the one who observed the anomalies that swoopo.com possesses. He examined and detected some sort of system that exploits the natural ways of a human being by experiencing it personally in swoopo.com.

7.    What does Jeff Atwood think about swoopo.com?

-       He thinks that swoopo.com takes advantage of other people by using some sort of system that doesn’t show its true motives. The front end of the system shows some light to bidders but doesn’t show the dark side it beholds.

8.    What are the things that Jeff Atwood observed about swoopo.com?

-       He observed that swoopo.com makes use of its service to further take advantage of the bidders. These services have the ability to lure the people to bid more and get less. He also observed that swoopo.com might be selling items which they not posses so far. The winnings from the items might be the one which is used to purchase the item and to ship it to the winner.

9.    The manipulation of other people is wrong; does it also work on businesses?

-       Obviously it does also. There is the Business Ethics that people use to keep things straight. It is also used by companies to gauge their employees’ morality.

10.  How does taking advantage of other people a nuisance to others?

-       It bothers them because they know it is wrong. They do not want other people taking advantage to the weak or less privileged. They are those people who observe proper ethics in both business and in life.
